What this work looks like

Emergency in AZ roofing usually means one of two things: active leak during monsoon, or storm damage that needs to be stabilized before more weather hits. The right response for both is the same — temporary cover (tarp) installed quickly to stop further damage, then proper repair scheduled once the immediate crisis is contained. The reason speed matters so much in Arizona is the nature of the storms. Monsoon season runs roughly June 15 through September 30, and the damage doesn't arrive as steady rain — it arrives as violent, short-lived microburst cells that can drop an inch of rain and throw 60-70 mph wind in twenty minutes, then move on. A roof that was fine yesterday can have a lifted tile field, a torn flashing, or an open penetration by mid-afternoon, and the next cell is often only a day or two behind. Every hour that an opening stays uncovered is more water into the decking, the insulation, the drywall, and eventually the framing — and water damage compounds fast in attic heat, growing mold within 24-48 hours. Stabilizing the roof quickly with a proper tarp is not a cosmetic step; it's the single thing that keeps a $1,500 repair from turning into a $15,000 interior restoration. We treat active-leak and post-storm calls as the priority they are, and we're straight with you about what we can safely do while weather is still moving through versus what has to wait for a clear window.

When to call about emergency repair

How the process works

  1. Call dispatch. Same-day tarp dispatch typically available if you call before 2pm Mon-Sat during monsoon season. Live answer 7am-6pm.
  2. Tarp installation. Temporary tarp secured over affected area with battens, sandbags, or roof straps that don't penetrate the underlayment. Drainage routed away from the damaged section.
  3. Damage documentation. Photos taken for insurance use. Written scope of damage provided.
  4. Permanent repair scheduled. Typically within 5-10 business days once the immediate storm cycle ends.
  5. Insurance coordination. Carrier-format estimates provided to support your claim. We don't bill insurance directly.

What it costs

Emergency tarp installation: $400-$1,100 depending on size and access. Permanent repair: scope-dependent (see relevant repair page).

Pricing ranges shown are estimates only. Actual cost depends on site conditions, material costs at time of service, and the specific scope of work agreed in writing.

Questions we get

How fast can you actually get out?

Mon-Sat 7am-2pm calls: usually same-day tarp during monsoon season. Late-afternoon and overnight: next-morning. Sunday: subject to availability.

What if storms are still active?

Tarping during active storms is dangerous. We wait for safe weather windows. In the meantime, focus on interior water containment (buckets, lifting electronics, moving furniture).

Do you handle tree-removal too?

No — that's a different licensed trade. We work alongside tree-removal services but we don't perform the removal. Once the tree is off, we handle the roof side.

Will a tarp really hold through more storms?

A properly installed tarp — battened down, weighted, and drained so water sheds off rather than pooling — will hold through subsequent monsoon cells for the days or couple of weeks until permanent repair. The failures we see are DIY tarps thrown over and held with a few bricks; those catch wind like a sail and tear off, sometimes doing more damage. We install temporary cover the way it's meant to be done so it actually buys you the protection you're paying for.

Should I file an insurance claim before or after you tarp it?

Tarp first, document, then file. AZ policies actually require you to take reasonable steps to prevent further damage — that's called your duty to mitigate — so emergency tarping is expected and the cost is typically reimbursable as part of the claim. We photograph everything before and after, and provide a carrier-format written scope so your adjuster has what they need. We don't bill your insurance directly; you stay in control of the claim.

Is there an extra charge for after-hours or weekend emergency calls?

We're transparent about this up front. Standard daytime calls during the work week are priced normally. After-hours, weekend, and holiday emergency dispatch may carry a premium, and we tell you the number before we roll a truck — never a surprise on the invoice. What we don't do is monsoon-panic gouging: the price reflects the work and the timing, not your desperation in the middle of a storm.
