An active roof leak during monsoon needs a different response than a slow ceiling stain in dry weather. If water is actively coming in: bucket placement is your immediate priority, photographing the source helps insurance later, and a temporary tarp from us can stop further damage within hours. The permanent repair happens after the storm cycle ends and the leak source can be properly diagnosed.
When to call about roof leak repair
- Water actively coming in during a storm
- Ceiling stain that's spreading or showing new growth
- Attic shows water staining on the deck underside
- After-monsoon discovery of damage you didn't see before
- Insurance carrier requested a damage assessment
- Pre-existing leak that returned during the first storm of the season
How the process works
- Immediate call triage. Tell us: is water actively coming in right now? If yes, we dispatch a tarp. If no (slow stain, dry-weather leak), we schedule a normal inspection.
- Emergency tarp (if needed). Temporary tarp installed over the affected area, secured with battens or sandbags, drainage routed away from problem area. Cost: typically $400-$900 depending on roof access and tarp size.
- Post-storm inspection. Once weather clears, full inspection identifies the leak source. Photos and written scope provided.
- Permanent repair scheduled. Targeted underlayment, flashing, or tile repair to address the specific leak source. Typically scheduled within 5-10 business days.
- Insurance documentation (if applicable). We provide carrier-format estimates and photos. We don't bill insurance directly. You manage the carrier relationship; we provide the documentation you need.
What it costs
Emergency tarp: $400-$900. Localized leak repair (single source): $600-$2,400. Larger underlayment-driven leak with multiple sources: $2,400-$7,500. Pricing depends on access, slope, materials needed, and current scope.
Pricing ranges shown are estimates only. Actual cost depends on site conditions, material costs at time of service, and the specific scope of work agreed in writing.
Questions we get
Can you tarp same-day during monsoon?
Usually yes if you call before 2pm. Late-afternoon and overnight tarp dispatch is harder during active storms — the storm itself becomes the obstacle.
Will a temporary tarp damage my roof?
Not when installed correctly. Tarps are secured with battens or sandbags that don't penetrate the roof. The tarp comes off when we do the permanent repair.
How long is a tarp good for?
A correctly-installed AZ tarp lasts 30-60 days during monsoon season. The longer it stays up, the more wear it takes from UV and wind. The faster we can do the permanent repair, the less you risk a tarp failure during a storm.
